The Dandy Crumble

Beautifying ugliness has a great effect on the human psyche. The carefully observed abstract artworks of “The Dandy Crumble“ and its subseries Forensics, Remnants and Nature’s Graffiti remind the viewer to view supposedly ugly or run-down areas in their urban environment in a new, more positive light. Nothing is ever as ugly as we might first perceive it.

Rotten remains of street art from around the world are being transformed into appealing pieces of art, following the tradition of Duchamp‘s readymades and modern-art-collage-works à la Kurt Schwitters. The street art pieces are being combined with images from ancient areas that are covered with moss and lichen – nature’s form of graffiti.

Ongoing project since 2018.
